Yeah, timing is a very underrated skill in learning guitar. In fact, bad timing is more of an issue as missing notes or messing up in a band presence. So for anyone starting to play guitar... use a metronome. You'll be glad you did when it's time to take it to the next level.

And you hit a good point also... some people are gifted with automatic timing skills and some are not. But not a correctable problem, just get out there and play-play-play!
