My Ohm's Law is a little rusty, if I have 2 8ohm 150w speakers run in series, I know the impedence stays the same, 8ohms, but does the wattage stay the same or increase. Meaning will this setup handle 300watts, or just 150? The reason I'm asking is I may have to disable the ss Crate and turn it into a 2x12 speaker cab when I get my Mesa amp. Shouldn't be too hard to close off the back, and the hole left in the front when I remove the amp section. Just have to buy more tolex to match what I'm going to cover it with. Thanks for any help. :w:

Edit: I may put the 8ohm 100w stock Crate speakers back in, just depends on which ones sound better, the Crate speakers, or the Eminence Texas Heats.

OK, I figured it out. 2 8ohm 150w speakers run in series = 16ohms and 300w's. If in parallel then it = 4ohms and 300w's, but the amp doesn't have to work as hard to push the speakers, so you don't lose as much wattage or power from the amp. Am I right? I had to pull out some old text books to figure this out, but only skimmed through to the parts I wanted, so I could be only partially right. I know I'm close any ways. I'll get my pop's to help figure out the wiring when the time comes, he's an electronical genius .

I'll have to dig up some old material also. I can't even remember if the DR was 8/16 ohm switchable. I think it is.

It has seperate output's for different impedence cabs. I downloaded the owner's manual from the Boogie website .

I always haz to look that stuff up.

Here's something I saved that's good for the series/parallel thingy, though ir doesn't address wattage handling:
