I'm researching for a new laptop in the $500-$700 bracket. Intel vs AMD -

Howdy folks,
I'm doing a little research on what laptop to get. It'll be either HP or Compaq as they are cheap with bang for the buck.
Tomorrow will be the day I get a new one. I pretty much have it narrowed down to two
The Compaq A949NR (limited Sunday sale $499 [first 10 customers only])
or HP DV7-1132NR - ($699 regular price is $829 - $849) re: advantage over the $499 A949NR is 64-bit.
They are both 17" screen and of course DVD and internal wireless.
My question now, which I can't seem to find enough info online, is Intel T2390 (1.86) vs. AMD 64 X2 RM-70.
On paper the AMD looks better, but I have read stuff that Intel, for notebooks, blows AMD away.
I'm leaning towards the A949A because it's Intel and $200 cheaper. But it's not 64-bit. There is very limited info online about the Compaq A949A while the DV7-1100 series has good reviews.
What are your thoughts? Thanks!
P.S. Also, if you know another great notebook within the price range, please advise.
EDIT:
More info.
I'm not a gamer. I will use the notebook for webmaster work, adding mods to scripts, I watch youtube videos/music videos and watch movies from safe warez websites.
