i like to play, it don't have to be on stage, matter of fact i have no real desire to be on stage, it is just something that comes with the territory lol, like watching TV, i have no real desire to get up and chane the channel but occasionally i must in order to enjoy it

stuff it....... then bake it.......

Oh man, where to start?

For some people it's just totally addicting. Honestly, when you got a band behind you and everybody's firing on all cylinders, interacting like one big rock and roll organism, the rush is better than booze or dope or even sex.

Not that I'm experienced with dope.

At any rate, over the years I deveolped into a stage performer. I was never partiuclarly interested in being a great technical player to begin with (genres specializing in that as a requirement tend to bore me to tears) and after some years of being in bands I got to the point where I'm pretty comfortable on stage and can really rock out with no inhibitions. With a job and family if I played out every weekend it'd wear me down, but playing out about once a month is great, and when I go for for more than that I start itching to get back onstage.

When you're playing a good gig, it's awesome to feel the interaction between the dynamic of the band and the audience. However, playing crappy gigs, free food is usually a selling point for me.

A bar tab is nice.

Ahh, if only, but I can't get that benefit just yet. One thing I'm disliking about the live music scene is the large amount of venues that make all their shows 21+. It's not only a pain for seeing shows, but also if I want to play a gig there, hardly anybody I know is going to show up because they're under-age. As a result the venue managers are much less likely to keep asking you back.

Agreed about the need for more all-ages shows/venues.

I actually have the opposite problem. I'll be 50 in a month or so. Most of the people my age or even close to it either do not want to go out and hear live music, or they want to go see a cover band.
