Default Running a cab in stereo? - 08-05-2008, 08:40 PM

Ok, I feel like a total noob asking this, but today I went to Guitar Center to try out some cabs and the employee there kept insisting that I played the cabs in stereo, using one head.

Is this safe to do? I always thought that stereo inputs were for running 2 heads through one cab?

He hooked up an MG 2x12 just to show me the difference, first in mono, second in stereo and I was actually surprised how much better it sounded in stereo. It didn't sound as ****ty as I thought it would

I kinda want to try it now with my 1960, but I really don't know if it's safe to do it or not because you can never trust a Guitar Center emplyee's word

Thoughts?

You mean running two cabs out of one head, right? By putting one cab on one side of the room or stage and the other cab on the other side...

That Line 6 HD147 sounded amazing in stereo with 2 mesa cabs. I'm sure the Marshall cabs will sound amazing too.

No I mean like how a Marshall 1960 is able to run in stereo at 16 ohms. So instead of plugging two heads in it, you just plug both inputs into one head.

I really have no idea how that would make it sound any better, since you're still playing out of all four speakers, but somehow it did

Yeah, you can do the Bugera cabs and heads like that too. The cab I'm getting also has 2 inputs on it so you can wire it to do the same thing.

I figure I can cover theBugera head in the same Snakeskin vinyl so they match.

Always scoop the mids!!
