Default New Variax Line 6 Guitar? - 03-24-2010, 02:21 PM

Indeed. Line 6 introduced the new Variax guitar designed by James Tyler today. See the story on Gear-Vault - Variax Guitar from Line 6 and James Tyler

Variax guitars can reproduce the sounds of an entire collection of 25 vintage electric and acoustic instruments, and a dozen custom tunings. The modeled instruments include solid-body, semi-hollow guitars and hollow-body electrics with a variety of pickup configurations, six- and twelve-string acoustics, and other guitar-related instruments including a resonator, banjo, and an electric sitar.

Here's a sneak peak:

I've never played any of that Variax stuff-- does it sound realistic?

It would be a cool thing for my church gig, but frankly it's more fun to bring a batch of different guitars, although that's a lot more work and probably more expensive.

Although-- I notice they don't mention the price anywhere. I'm guessing pretty hefty with all that technology.
