I found a guy selling a 517, and I've never heard of it. He gave me a brief explanation, telling me that it's a limited run version of the 570 in a different color. Can anyone verify this?
Gear: 5150, RG2EX2, a FrankenSquire, and a MG10 (Underrated)
i like ibanez guitars, but i don't follow them close enough to know much about them, i know not much help just didn't want you to think nobody reads stuff just beccause they don't reply lol
The RG517 was part of a run of non-standard numbered guitars that happened in the mid 90's, During this time there was a sort of reshuffle around which trems and pickups and such the standard 550 and 570 were going to receive in the long term and such.
I believe there were RG505 507 517 and 527's available along with the underrated RG570 MHSOL, a solid mahogany natural finish RG570
hope that helps but some pictures might help me more with more info for ya...... but i do know they were limited run..
Okay, I did a quick search and it appears that the 517 is, in fact, like the RG570 but different finish.
Apparently the Ibanez RG517 come in 'Sparkle' finish.
The hardware and neck look like the good stuff. Edge trem, wizard bulgaria neck, and mahogany body.
