I don't really have a go-to guitar or even type of guitar. I like LP's and Teles both, but with LP's all things being equal I prefer a double cut to a single cut. Also, I like P-90's just as much, if not more, than HBs in a Les Paul type guitar. Not too big on Strats though I try to keep some variant around.
Have been trying to get into funky pickups that are neither Fender-type singles nor regular humbuckers of late-- P-90's, DeArmond 2000's, Brownsville toaster singles, Ric Hi-Gain singles, mini-HB's, etc.

Yeah, single cuts are a bit awkward to sit down and play. If you allow it to pressure, it'll want to slides off the knee. That would be my only complaint. Some guys probably dislike the weight of the Les Paul guitar, but actually, that's one of my favorite things... I love the thick, heavy slab a wood around my neck. lol
With that said, I usually play standing up and have a wide leather Levi strap. So it's nice and comfortable for me.
I just can't get into the single coils...

Usually my go to guitar is whatever is the closet to me. I've even played
my granddaughter's small play guitar.

Mine's an 88 Ibanez Sabre. I'll probably swap out the pickups one of these days, but the neck on it is *perfect*.
