Default Building a guitar out of bamboo wood? - 03-12-2010, 03:18 PM

Bamboo!? What… did he just say bamboo guitar?‘ Yes I did!

Check out the story of building a telecaster bamboo guitar.

How does it sound? I'll let you decide. What do you think of the idea of a Bamboo guitar. First Act (Bambusa) is the only company that I know of that actually manufactured a bamboo guitar. Should more guitar manufactures produce bamboo guitars?

Yeah I didn't expect bamboo to sound that good. I first read and was like 'no way!'. The video is pretty good.

Actually, Bamboo is a grass, not a wood. A few years back, Yamaha did some experimenting using Bamboo in a model of acoustic guitars, however, it was not very successful.

This would not be my choice in a "tonewood".

It seemed to work well in this case. Of course choice of wood is much more important in an acoustic guitar than in an electric.

LOL. Methinks perhaps some "other" grass is being imbibed in.

Tone Grass......I think we have a winner.

You can sell it to the cork sniffers and tell them it makes their tone better. In reality, it just mellows them out so they aren't so uptight about oxygen free gold plated NOS hand wired pre aged whatever.
