Question Online guitar lessons? - 04-19-2010, 03:29 PM

Have you ever took online guitar lessons before? If not would you ever consider doing it? I see guitar trainers popping up online trying to sell guitar lessons online... just curious if they are really helpful.

I actually teach private students via webcam and I do a semi-regular live webcast...

Hey that's pretty cool. Let me know when you have a live webcast. I'd like to tune in and check it out.

Thanks Mark.

no problem! I might do one 6:30-7:00pm PDT this week...I'm a little short on time but I've been trying to make myself more available to the folks following the daily lessons...

Over the past couple years, I've done a guitar lesson blog where I just post tips, lessons, and any other potentially helpful thoughts that come to my mind, and I think it can be a pretty viable resource. I've been playing guitar for over 10 years now and I first started to learn by trying to find as much info as a I could online. And through that, I was pretty much self-taught through online information, which then equipped me very well to study guitar a bit through university.

Fast forward 10 years and there is a ton of resources for learning guitar online. I would say there's nothing like having a teacher in the same room as you to give you feedback and critique, but dang, for dirt cheap you can use online lessons and still see a lot of growth. It worked for me 10 years ago, so I imagine it can work now too.

I am currently enrolled in an online guitar lessons, so far so good. My tutor is very welcoming and he gives an extra time for all my queries. I can see the progress little by little, but I think it takes time to learn.

I once payed for GuitarTricks for 1 month I think, but that was like 5 years ago so I can't really remember how good it was. Been thinking about buying some again, when I get some cash, could be usefull.

Currently have used Guitar tricks for a couple years and have also been working with Tom Hess online. He seems to have me heading in the right direction for a change and I enjoy the structure. If you havent checked him out do so just google: Tom Hess online guitar lessons
