Is there anyone who can help me here? Ok I was playing with my son`s guitar and I put a bass guitar in his effects pedals.Well ...It started to smoke and I pulled it out and set it outside to make sure it didn`t start on fire. It is a boss DS1 distortion pedal. I took it apart and found that a black resistor or it might be a capacitor ? Well it has a silver stripe on it and it was cooked in two. So I found another in a radio that I had. Now Did it cook somewhere else ? Anyone ever fix a blown DS1 before?

I'd be more worried about why it cooked in the first place. Bass guitar effects and Electric guitar effects can be in either chain for experimental use, I don't see why it'd start smoking, that's pretty weird... I'd invest in a new one.

DS1 sell for pretty cheap. Unless you know how to fix this one (parts would be cheap if your handy enough to fix it), I'd just buy a new or used one.
