Default Gretsch Bo Diddley Electric Guitar - 05-23-2008, 11:31 PM

Based on Bo Diddley’s Signature rectangular guitar, the “Big B” is built to the same specs as the original. The Firebird Red semi-hollow body measures a whopping 17-3/4 inches by 9-1/4 inches. The body is constructed of alder and five-ply maple and features FilterTron pickups, a Tune-O-Matic bridge, a “G” cutout tailpiece and plenty of gold hardware. The tree-piece rock maple neck has an ebonized rosewood fingerboard with dot pearl inlays, a black 1957 Duo Jet headstock and a special Bo Diddley signature on the truss rod cover. Sells for around $2k

Wouldn't plan on any high-noted solos with that'un. Though Bo is all about rhythm guitar anyhow.

One of his original rectangular Gretsches is on display in Lipham's Music here in Gainesville, the same shop Tom Petty used to work at back in the day.

That's how Bo rolls though.

You can see the original in this pic, about 10 or 12 feet to my left. I'm the bassist.

Dang, weird coincidence.

Bo died today up at his place outside of Archer Florida.

RIP Bo. Thanks for a good time.
