Ah, so THAT's what you're talking about. Most inexpensive guitars are going to have laminate maple caps. No biggie-- $2000 ES-335's are made of maple laminate also.

A lot of plywood references there.
Actually, it's pretty rare to find a plywood guitar nowadays. They're still made to be sure, but it's much more common to find even cheap electric guitars made...
