i'd like to plead with you to move to michigan...... there is a serious lack of bass players, and NO drummers...... the few drummers there are, are unreliable and lazy........ lol if you were here you'd have NO troulbe finding a band

JR. on BC RICH models normally means that it has a full scale, but the guitar body is slightly smaller for smaller people.... ala the ibanez mikros....

one way or another the Jr V's are really nice guitars... the pick-up i think are a bit on the bright side, but you can't go wrong with a neck-thru.
3  General Category / Music / Re: What's in your mp3/cd player right now? on: August 21, 2008, 09:43:36 AM
my list as of recently has been Tyr, avenged sevenfold, the sword, taproot, and cradle of filth (normally i wouldn't listen to cradle, but i am required to learn "From the Cradle to Enslaved" for my current musical project :-O )
4  Gear / Guitar Tech and Technique / Re: Best Beginner Song? on: July 30, 2008, 02:27:38 AM
first song i learned to play was smells like teen spirit - nirvana

easiest songs i can think of are:
nothing else matters -metallica the rhythm parts aren't too difficult
easiest chord song is by far smoke on the water - deep purple

erp.... coming from a guy who owned a peavey windsor..... they DO NOT take pedals well...... at all

i tried to use both an MXR distortion+ clone, and a Big Muff PI in front of the amp and both had the same effect, destroyed the bass. and added more noise than distortion........ sadly the best distortion a windsor gets is what it has, even a clean boost just boosts noise and doesn't change the distortion character, it just adds saturation to the distortion tone it already has......

if you are looking for a more metal tone an MT-2 will help.... if you are just looking for more gain in the same style the amp has on it's own, change the tubes to JJ's that helps ALOT.

my recommendation is swap out the stock tubes (ruby power tubes) for JJ E34Ls, the pre-amp tubes should already be JJs

the ONLY eventful thing that happened to me last weekend was we moved my parent's furniture, which took all day sunday, and part of monday too........ it was more like a srpring cleaning than a furniture move, which sucks since i only signed up for the furniture move (couple minute job)..... haha job was on me..... :-P
9  Gear / Amplification / Re: JCM 800 Sounding amp on: June 28, 2008, 08:36:14 AM
peavey windsor if youa re looking for a JCM800 dirty channel...... the windsor is a single channel amp there is no clean channel, it's a JCM800 clone, but ONLY the dirty channel
10  Gear / Amplification / Re: Best amp you've ever owned. on: June 24, 2008, 10:45:55 PM
yeah i played the JCM200 DSL 50 in a musiclab store in chicago, i loved that amp, one of the better marshalls i have played, though the DSL401 sound similar they aren't the same, the DSL401s are a bit "thicker" IMO not bassier, just not quite as thin sounding as the DSL 50s and 100s are.  most marshalls take to pedals pretty well,  but an distortion pedal on a marshall is kind of a waste of a marshall lol, you can get better overdrive tones from the amp itself than any pedal is going to give you on the clean channel, overdriving the dirty channel is a different thing, but sticking a RAT, or DS-1 or what have you on the clean channel is sacrilegious...... some day I'll have me a DSL50 and a 4X12..... I'll also have a JCM800, and  JMP lol, might have a 8 foot shlong too........ LMAO
11  General Category / The Pit / Re: Who invented the 'smashing your guitar ' technique? on: June 22, 2008, 11:38:26 PM
Hows this... Ted Nugent invented shooting an electric guitar (normally hollow-body's) with a flaming arrow.

However, he never humped the guitar like Hendrix did... atleast not from what I have seen.  Hendrix liked to poor lighter fluid on his Strat and lighting it up and doing all kinds of crazy stuff.

Did he do the lighter thing more than once?

The only time I remeber seeing he'd done that was at Woodstock.

He and Pete were always trying to outdo each other, and the Who were also on the same bill there.

yeah hendrix also burned one up at monterey pop festival, isle of wight, the astoria, hendrix lit them up alot, only smashed a few though

14  Gear / Amplification / Re: Marshall Excitement on: June 21, 2008, 04:40:28 PM
it gets warm enough to be uncomfortable to touch, but it don't get any warmer that any VOX i ever played. /shrug EL84 based amps could be used heat a small apartment anyway, aside from tube sockets become de-soldered i can't imagine much else happening from the heat it generates.
