Best Beginner Song?

What is the best song for a beginner to start learning on. I know some basic chords, A,G,D ex but I haven't played a melody really. I wanted to learn "Nothing else matters" but the tabs I got were confusing. Any ideas?

For Whom the Bell Tolls is really easy too. And I love the tone of the RTL album!

House of The Rising Son is always a good one

first song i learned to play was smells like teen spirit - nirvana

easiest songs i can think of are:
nothing else matters -metallica the rhythm parts aren't too difficult
easiest chord song is by far smoke on the water - deep purple

A good choice for open chords! Even a bit easier than House of the Rising Sun.

Re: Best Beginner Song?

Again for open chords...No Woman, No Cry is pretty easy if you've got F down.

F is really hard for me too

Mad World by Gary Jules (donnie darko soundtrack) is fairly easy to play, uses G, D, A, and Em chords i believe

Re: Best Beginner Song?

um i learned adams song by blink 182 haha

if you don't mind playing stuff like that then i would say anything from them or greenday is pretty easy, and i will second the smells like teen spirit a easy but good song haha, um if you want to get a little more difficult and have something everyone knows i would say crazy train w/o the solo or maybe some parts to stairway to heaven, then there is also alot of black sabbath that isn't that tough also such as paranoid and ironman

you just have to look around and play what feels good until you start advancing :w:

last dance with mary jane by tom petty and the heartbreakers is fairly easy, definitely good for a beginner to add one more song to his repertoire

Stand By Me is great. G Em C and D. Also I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For (U2) is good. Uses chords A, D and E. You will need a capo on the 4th fret to play along with the recording.

MrSandMan 01-22-2020 03:43 AM

I never attempted to play stand by me. I actually forgot about that song... but now that you mention it, it sounds like one to learn.
