Tascam GTR1 Portable Guitar / Bass Recorder
Hey peeps, I just received a new AMS catalog in the mail today and I thought it'd be a cool idea to post some new gear just to add to the convo.
Here is a Tascam GTR1 that caught my attention, it is bit pricey at $349 tho. American Music Supply Info: Record your riffs wherever you go. Record your acoustic with the built in stereo mics or plug straight in to the 1/4" input with your electric guitar. With over 80 built-in rhythm tracks and the ability to overdub, record melody and add harmony. The GTR1 includes a USB 2.0 cable and 1 GB SD memory card for data storage. |

I like this one better:
http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-LIN-BCKTRK-LIST it's cheaper at 150 bucks for the fully loaded model, and would serve my purpose's for it well. Yeah, the add for the Tascam caught my attention too Sandman. :winkx: Then I read about it. |
Re: Tascam GTR1 Portable Guitar / Bass Recorder
Oh cool. I didn't even see that one brother. The $99 one is same GB as the Tascam.
But I noticed the Tascam has more features, such as the 80 rhythm tracks and the ability to overdub. To build a song. The Line 6 appears to be just a straight forward riff recorder. I know there are many times when I made a cool riff and forgot it... lol |
Re: Tascam GTR1 Portable Guitar / Bass Recorder
The Tascam has more features, but I'd never use them, I like the Line 6 because like you said, it's just a straight on riff recorder. And like you, and I'm sure countless more guitarists, I've forgotten more riffs I made up than I can remember. I like the Line 6 because I can just turn it on, and it'll only record when I start playing(or talking to someone...like myself ) it's a fully automatic recording device, just turn it on and jam. Then you can import the WAV files to your DAW. If I bought the Tascam, I wouldn't buy a recording setup, just some software. But it is still a cool little recorder, and probably would come in handy at a jam session with the guys just because you can fit it in your gig bag. :2thumbups:
edit: BTW, I'm soooo happy you started a Recording/live gear part to this forum. Like the band Tesla said;"It's gettin' better everyday". Keep it up bro! :w: |

a good way to find out if you mic'd correctly is setting up some mics and recording and seeing if the drums are adequately represented, changing them around until they are
