Looking for some advice on multi-effect processors
Hey guys, I've been down for awhile, glad to be back! I just thought I'd ask if anyone would be willing to give me some advice on multi-effects processors. I am looking to purchase one for around 200 bucks. I know Line 6, DigiTech, Boss, and Vox make them, but you guys know more about these things than I do I'm sure. Any help would be appreciated!! :2thumbups:

Re: Looking for some advice on multi-effect processors
My favs are Boss GT-8 (closer to your budget - if you buy a used one) and Vox Tonelab (if you buy a used one).
What I like about the Tonelab is the fact that it incorporates a 12AX7 preamp tube. It really boils down to personal preference, they all have their unique features and they are all just damn good. |
Re: Looking for some advice on multi-effect processors
Tell me more about your current rig and your favorite music.

Re: Looking for some advice on multi-effect processors
Ok, right now I'm mainly playing blues and anything heavy. I checked out the tonelab, they make a model with a pedal and one without. I'm kinda trying to get one to use in a live situation rather than in a home setting. Something where I can change settings quickly.

I play with a American Strat, and a hot-rodded Epi Les Paul. I'm also using a 100w 2x12 RG100.

Re: Looking for some advice on multi-effect processors
Yep, the Vox Tonelabs are basically the same except one is for live use.... and I *think* it has a few more features than the studio version.
I personally loved the Vox Tonelab. I loved how warm it is and how crunchy it could get. You can actually download patches for it. There's a website with patches. http://www.youtube.com/v/_pUVQnt2kuM...olor2=0x54abd6 |
Re: Looking for some advice on multi-effect processors
yeah wow, that sounds pretty good! I gotta stay in the 200 bracket though, and I can't find one even used for 200. they're closer to 300. If you see one for cheap, drop me a line and let me know, thanks for the help :yess:

Re: Looking for some advice on multi-effect processors
Yeah, if you keep your eye open you can find great bargains. I'll keep my eye out for you. One sold for $209 on SleazeBay last week.
Craigslist would be a good way to find a cheap one, also you could start a "wanted" ad on gear-vault. They're out there. :w: |
Re: Looking for some advice on multi-effect processors
I found a Pod xt live for a good price, picked it up now i just have to figure out how to use the darn thing :smilez:

Re: Looking for some advice on multi-effect processors
ugh scratch that. That pod xt live is going right back where it came from. Complete garbage. It won't even stay on and functional for more than 10 mins at a time.

Re: Looking for some advice on multi-effect processors
wow, was it used?
|
Re: Looking for some advice on multi-effect processors
No it wasn't used! It was brand new out of the box fresh!! I had sooo many problems with it it's ridiculous. It's too much to type on here, if you had aim, i would hit you up on there and tell you all about it.

Re: Looking for some advice on multi-effect processors
I went back and tried out the tonelab LE and the Digitech RP 500. I liked both, but believe it or not, the RP500 sounded better! I got that and it is cool but I do have a few problems. Like when I connect it to my amp through the clean channel, it get an insane amount of hiss and ambient noise, but oddly enough, when I run it through the lead channel with the gain turned down, there's no hiss! I just thought that was odd....

Re: Looking for some advice on multi-effect processors
I realize it's in a completely different price range, but I had read nothing but good about the Axe-FX from Fractal Audio. I'd love to test one out.

Re: Looking for some advice on multi-effect processors
I've read very good things about them. I'd like to try one out but I doubt too many stores stock them.
They certainly seem to polarize people in terms of modeling vs analog. |
Re: Looking for some advice on multi-effect processors
Did you ever get one? Are you looking for amp modeling or more for effects?
Did you ever think of going used rack? |
Re: Looking for some advice on multi-effect processors
MrSandMan, did you get to play a Axe-Fx?
I noticed that Ty Tabor is using them now, too. He has a killer live tone. |
