ernie balls were the original steel strings that you could mix and match, what hendrix used before moving to the UK, i think they started in a mom and pops music store in california, either way for me they used to have standard sets that i liked so i didn't have to make a custom set..... the hybrids used to have a wound 3rd string that i LOVED but they stopped doing that a few years back...... i am about to start making custom GHS deals just so i can get what i want 12-54 with a wound G string

I use DR's exclusively on both acoustic and electric. I really haven't found a better sounding string. :w:

i love Dr strings and found they have a nice heavy sound to them and feel great and play nice... good choice but here in michigan at least in stores around jackson they cost 14 bucks a pack... so i dont buy them much

I usually use either D'addarios or EB Slinkys in .9s or .10s.

I mostly use D'addario 10's, but I often try other brands just for a change. I sometimes use Elixir's on my acoustic.

I've heard Elixir makes great acoustic strings but that their electric strings are really odd. Anyone like the electric Elixirs?

never tried them, irc they are significantly more expensive than the others and that may be why i've never tried them

^ True, they are very expensive. I can get a 3pack of D'addarios for the same price as one pack of Elixirs. That's pretty crazy.
