Re: Best Distortion pedal?

i'd have to chime in and say krank distortus maximus, nice and chunky pedal as long as the masters down and the volume on the amp is leveled high

I TRIED ALMOST EVERY DISTORTION MODELS IN STORES.
AND I FIND THIS RESULT

For Hard Styles
Stomp - Rat,Metalzone
Amp - Marshall,Mesa

For Less Hard Stayles
Stomp - Ds-1,MXR
Amp - Fender, Ibanez

For Boost and Solo Tones

TS-9, Boss EQ or any Boss OD

my final word is Tone is Yours as you like it.

Ever try a Metal Muff? I read good reviews on those.

Re: Best Distortion pedal?

I use a combo of boxes (I'm in a cover band so having an array is somewhat needed for different tones)

Let me start with this I have a JCM2000 DSL 100 I use the green channel for everything except when I cover Nickelback or metallica (or anything super overdriven, then I use the Red Channel)
on the Green channel I have the preamp set around 6 so I can roll off the volume and get a decent clean sound if I don't roll off the volume The amp sounds barely over drive, kinda like an old Lynyrd Skynyrd tone

I generally use a Boss SD-1 with Monte Allums mod for basically driving my DSL 100 over the top
and then on top of that a Boss DS-1 with a Monte triple rec mod on leads for sustain.

Depending on the set list I also have a 70's MXR Dist +, 70's Ross Distortion (Sounds just like the MXR), and a TS-7 which i set sometimes just for cranking. The SD-1 and DS-1 are always on my board though, they never come off.

Re: Best Distortion pedal?

yeah i just built a clone of a script logo MXR distortion+ it is my favorite distortion box i have played, second favorite is prolly big muff pi, wish i could find a nice fuzz box that was nice and bassy and fuzzy, i've tried fuzzfaces, a solasound tonebender clone, maestro fuzz, nothing seems to fit, the big muff is the closest, but it's more distortion than fuzz i love the sound of the solasound tonebender, but it sucks most of the bass out :-(
