The Irony, how things come full circle for Metallica since the good old days. Remember the Napster piracy wars? Napster went from poster child for file-sharing and music-piracy to just another pay-to-play site and.... Metallica is on Napster, again. Legally this time.

Napster sent out this press release this week: "We have a very exciting announcement to make this week - Metallica's back catalogue is now available in full on Napster! ROCK!!! ...Metal Gods On Napster!

"Metallica's catalogue is on Napster from today! Check out albums including Master Of Puppets, Metallica (The Black Album) and St. Anger from the biggest hard rock band in the world. Look out for Metallica's ninth studio album Death Magnetic out next month and a headline set at Reading/Leeds this weekend.”

Having Metallica put their songs on a legal download site is not that big a deal, they're already on iTunes and Amazon. But the symbolic significance of Metallica putting their tracks on Napster is, well... hard to deny.

Yeah, commercialism at it's best. Freaking sell outs, I heard the poser song on the radio today off their new album thumbdown. I thought it sucked ass man. My wife said it sounded like a bunch of old guys. She doesn't even listen to metal, but she hears all the older stuff from metallica that I play. She even said she wouldn't buy the new cd just from hearing that one suck ass song thumbdown. The new Judas Priest double disc concept 2thumbsups is better than this drivel. I wonder how come they didn't get as much press and hoopla as metal lik ya did confused? They been around way longer, and in some aspects are a way better band than metal-lik-ya are. Hopefully the whole album isn't this bad and Kirk and the boys can redeem themselves. We'll see Sept. 12 I guess.

While My Apocalypse is okay, I don't think it is great. It's only 10% of what they are really capable of producing.

Take away the "Metallica" name, the funding and the media hype, then you'd have an average song at best... and if the "said band" wasn't signed, this song certainly wouldn't get them signed.

I'm just saying, I think most kids think it's great because it has 'Metallica's' stamp on it. Or maybe it's because Metallica created so much crap, we think this is a huge accomplishment?

I wouldn't buy it... or really bother to listen to it again. I think Megadeth are making better music.

I would have to agree with you 200%. MegaDeth stuck to their guns all this time, not to say some songs the recorded weren't that good, but the majority, I'd say about 97% of their stuff is" awesome thrash". biggrin The "new" Death Angel album is better than MetalliCRAP.
