This is a pretty random question, but I was wondering what the deal is with the Electro Harmonix logo.  I mean, first of all, what is it?  It looks like some sad forest creature or something.  So does anyone have any info on what it's supposed to be or why it's the logo for such an awesome company?  Any info would be helpful.

In case you don't know what I mean here's the logo:

Well, I googled something similar to your question, as it's been one of my own for while now. I didn't find the answer, but maybe if you, me, or we join the forum on this site, we will. I browsed the site, and learned A LOT of interesting stuff, like EH had a delay pedal out called the "Hairlip", and some other interesting facts about EH. I love EH pedals, I currently own 4 of them. Here's the link, check it out:

Thanks for that link, that site looks pretty interesting.  Good to know that I'm not the only one who wondered about that logo.

A friend of mine told me today, that it's supposed to be a lion? I can't see it. It does KINDA remind me of Jimi Hendrix though.

Ehh, I don't really see that.  I'm asking it over at Harmony Central's Effects forum now.  Someone's bound to know.

Hey, I emailed EH and asked them. It's a Rams Head. Here's a copy of the email:

"The logo is commonly referred to as a Ram's Head.  It is actually a painting that was done by an artist friend of Mike Matthews in the 60's.  Mike thought it would make an interesting logo for the Electro-Harmonix products."

Who'da thought huh?

yeah, I just got the same response from someone on the Harmony Central thread.  Did you also post it over there or is that just someone different?  I think a bunch of people emailed that question to EHX.

The internet is amazing, in just a few days, my thread over there has been viewed over 1000 times, and I actually got a response to my question which is sweet!

No, not me. Someone else probably emailed them too. That is amazing, I bet EHX was gettin' that question a couple times a day.BTW have you seen their new site? It's way better than Boss' lame "interactive" pedalboard. They have actual video demos. Pretty sweet. w

Yeah the new site kicks ass.  I thought the old one was really confusing, and badly set-up so I'm glad they updated it.

I've wondered about that logo before.  When I look at it quickly, it resembles a guy with a big fro.  My money would have been on a lion, though.

I thought it was a ghoul from the trees... I'd never had guessed either.  But when I see that face, I know it's EHX, which, in essence, does what it suppose to.

Same thing I thought, something hanging in a forest, like an elf or something.

You're right though, we know what it is when we see it.
