So last night Crash Pad played for the first time in over a year. It was a benefit for a local homeless charity/outreach called the HOMEvan. In late 2008 I went into the studio with a borrowed drummer from my side band and knocked out a track in one evening for a comp CD of loacal bands they're selling. Now they're doing a bunch of concerts featuring the bands on the album, so I reconstituted the old band with the new drummer.

Saw lots of people I hadn't seen in awhile; the set went pretty well although I broke a string on the penultimate song, and the broken one fouled the rest so I had to physically yank it aside to get the guitar playable, and then tweak the tuning on the remaining strings to finish out the song. At least that song had no solos. My high-schooler daughter came with and helped roadie and took these pics. I think she did pretty well for someone who'd never shot a live band before. These are raw pics with no cropping or brightening or anything, I just uploaded them to Facebook to get them resized.

As usual, your comments on my poseritude are expected and encouraged. I'll post a few now, lots more later.

Oh, it was very fun. Haha, thanks Chaz.

We played a very short set as there were 4 bands, and we were rusty, 7 songs. I'm guessing we were up and off in a half hour max. That allowed us t take our time and not rush so much that we messed up (too much).

The kids are pretty pumped, even our bassist who originally considered this a one-shot. That's great, because this guy's playing has gone through the roof in the last year. He is GOOD. Honestly, at this point he really makes the band, from a live standpoint. I have a prior bassist in reserve if necessary, but I wanna keep Ronnie.

I'm looking around for some shows, but summer in a college town is VERY slow.

Fingers crossed. It was pretty rocking. The UF students all graduated on Friday, so town was a little dead, but we had as many people in the room for our set as the headliners (who are very good-- their guitarist is a former Crash Pad bassist, and they are on No Idea records, and tour to Europe and Asia and stuff), and even had a little mini-mosh of 3 or 4 people going crazy, which they didn't.

Yeah, it would be really cool if you guys can keep it going man. I would jam with ya Brian!

I figured the pants was for the shock factor, you know... KISS / Alice Cooper. Next time color your face to match the pants, I'm sure it'll be a hit!

Haha, I actually was going to wear my Dutch camo pants, which uses the same "DPM" design ("disruptive pattern material" in armyspeak) as the Brits, but I couldn't find them. The alpenflage are the flashiest ones I have, for sure.
