Hi everyone, I'm a very small boutique pedal designer and builder from Northern Ireland; I'm slowly building up a line of pedals which are designed and built by me! :D

I'm doing a small bit of research here and there to find out what is wanted in a distortion pedal, to me the best distortion pedal out there is the ProCo RAT but I wan't to hear everyones views!

Thanks!

A pedal that I like to use is the Bad Monkey. Great pedal for the price.

Thanks for the input guys! I might actually be looking for some testers soon when I start developing it, so I'll keep you in mind crazy guitar man!

MrSandMan, what do you think is best about the Bad Monkey that could lend itself to another pedal? is it the bass control? I had one a long time ago but I found the bass to be a bit annoying at times,

It's a killer pedal for boosting amps, other than that I dont have much use for them. If your looking at a "Distortion" pedal and not an O.D. I'd say something that can do that mean aggressive Marshall on 11 & boosted tone.... :D

Transparency. I like to still hear the character of my guitar & amp through the pedal. I want a pedal that just distorts/overdrives, but doesn't add or scoop midrange. I'd like far less compression than you get with a Tube Screamer type effect, and more gain.

Currently I am using a Boss BD-2 Blues Driver. It's very close to what I want, but the decay on chords is kind of splatty & fizzly with some settings.

Build me my pedal. We shall call it The Bonafide.

Ok MI Audio crunch box , Wampler Pinnacle, Menatone working man's blues are the best SS pedals out there that I have tried or owned. Tube pedals are Damage control womanizer and I like the new Maxxon pedal

I put a Monte Allums Kit in a Boss DS-1 and it has remained on my board since. A 60 dollar pedal including the mods.
