I wanted to make a SETTINGS thread for people to post there setting on, or any settings you know of..

01. Name the Amp used
02. Any effects used?? if so name them and there settings
03. The settings.. tre bass mid, presence, and any other type of setting
04. Tube or solid state amp?
05. What are the watts of the amp?
06. Guitar used (active pickups or not) may change the tone alot, so this is important
08. Reference, tell what or who it sounds like.. (eg. grunge/alternative setting, sounds like "Blackhole sun".)

and if there is anything else add it..

I'll go first.. these are my current boogie settings

01. The amp used is a Mesa dual rectifier roadster with 4x12 vintage 30's

02. i use a boss mt-2 layered over my distortion channel.. the settings are;
not o'clock... i use 1 - 10
Level - 5
Low - 6.5
High - 6.5
Mid Freq - 3.5
Middle - 2.5
Distortion - 3

03. okay the acctual amp settings;(remember i use 1 - 10)
First it's on 50 watt setting
On Tube Tracking
Reverb is set to 5
On BOLD
Output - 5
Solo - 7
Master - 4 - 5
Presence - 7
Bass - 5
Mid - 8
Treb - 7
Gain - 6 - 7

04. Tube amp

05. it is a 100watt amp but gives you the option to play in 50watt, i like to use 50 watt because it lowers the headroom of the amp and gives you more responce from you gain knob..

06. Guitar used - usually my Shecter omen.. non active pickups, just good ol' regular ones..

08. Not to sure who it sounds like, but it is a very thick heavy setting.. A Metal setting.. I play technical melodic death metal, lol if that makes sence.. and this is my practice setting. live i would cut the mid a bit , cut the bass, almost to 0.. and thats it..

Oh by the way, yes there is no 7.... i can't count that high, lol i guess i forgot it... Enjoy the settings

i have nominal settings

1. peavey windsor 100W head (typically i pull the outside tubes to drop it to 50W for guitar, and it extends the life of my tubes...... i only have 1 pair in so the other pair i can have as back-ups lol)

2. first in chain VOX V847 wah, only has one setting on or off, but i generally use it for a filter, only as a wah for solos.... if i want to get real extravigant.

2nd in chain the tone bender i just built, it's rather limiting atm, i need to do some mods on it, it's very tonebendery, but not very useful since it eats bass like no other pedal i have used, so i need to tweek the input and output caps, and possibly add a filter cap on the output to tame the treble, it has a great sound...... with the attack down it has a spirit in the sky sound to it, with the attack up full it's full on guess who american woman intro solo, fully saturated and sustains for eons

last in chain is a script era MXR distortion plus clone, modded, the distortion pot i dropped from 500k to 250k so it don't get as clean as it does stock, but it lets alot more bass through, and has more max gain, i normally set the distortion to between 50% and 75% and output to unity, i often use it to filter the tonebender since it tames down the tonebenders treble without coloring it too much, it's still fuzzy the MXR is my main distortion

3. gain between 2-4 gives me a cleanish sound to start from, it's a marshallish clean on the edge of break-up

bass 6-8

mids 3-5

treble 5-8

master to needed level

resonance 12

presence 8-10 depending on how bright the tonebender is (germanium transistors are brighter or duller dependiong on the temp)

4. full on TUBE!!

5. 100W but as above i pull 2 tubes

6. epiphone les paul standard dual buckers SD duncan designed in the neck believe it's a 105, stock epi in the bridge, i normally use the bridge or middle positions, using volume and tone to taste

8. classic metal / acid rock, from led zeppelin to blue cheer and in between

I think it is great that almost nobody has the same amps as each other on here.. make for great conversation's and arguments, lol...

yeah like windsor is as good as a JCM800, always starts an arguement lol, but i have peaveys schematic for the windsor, and i have a JCM800 schematic, i KNOW the truth :-D

jackal

lol, that would start one.. haha I noticed at the music store that the windsor is on clearence.. for like 1200 bucks for the half stack.. they are discontinued. do you know why?? were sales just not high enough?

floydmoline
03-14-2008, 11:31 PM
ya appearantly sale weren't high enough, 1200 dollars is too much to the half stack, quality wise it's worth it imo, but you can get them online for 600 for a half stack

jackal

to much?? the average head here is 1300$

floydmoline
03-14-2008, 11:37 PM
and alot of younger guitar players only grew up with dual channel amps, and aren't aware that there were only single channel amps before the 80's lol most guys don't know how to, or want to use single channel amps, i am a bit of an anachronism, show me something new and i say ehhh it's ok, show me something old i say that rocks even if it's junk lol

floydmoline
03-14-2008, 11:38 PM
yeah imports suck lol it's almost cheaper to come down buy something and take it back up lol

tidwop
