13 years. Started at age 6. Now that I have to write about it, its quite a long time and yet so much left to learn!

1986 I picked up my first guitar (a Jap Westbury twin cut in black) from GigRiggers in Reigate, Surrey. Rah!

I started about the same age-- only I'm way older than you. ;)

I started c. 1970, so I guess that makes about 42 years for me!

Sigh, if only I'd actually gotten good.

I have been playing since 14 and I feel like I am always learning something new even revising old stuff that I learnt before.

There's so much composite experience/knowledge on AGF. Thought it would be fun to know how long you've been playing guitar, if you've had any dry spells (periods of time when you stopped playing), and if you enjoy it as much now as you did back then...always nice to hear from beginning players, too. I began playing about 45 years ago with just a few brief dry spells during that time. Still love it.

I started playing six string steel acoustic guitar in 2008. My collection of guitars is mostly Rhode Island shop (full Chesterfield) Guilds plus my own self-designed Pseudocaster—Peavy swamp ash body, Schecter rock maple neck, triple high-output Seymour Duncan pickups (including a special issue Trembucker), full gold Schaller hardware, with a classic Floyd Rose tremolo.

A major early influence was the classical guitar master, Andres Segovia, whom I saw perform several times.
