I have Martin DSM that I currently use a Dean Markley woody pickup on. I would like to install a pickup, any suggestions on type or brand? My Ibanez has a under saddle pickup which seems to do a decent job. My only thing is messing with the action by lifting the saddle. I really did not want to pay to have it installed, and I am not confident enough to adjust the saddle myself.

Hi, welcome to the boards.
Have you checked into one of these? http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Seymour-Duncan-SA6-Mag-Mic-Acoustic-Pickup?sku=300323

Looks like something to consider. I wish I could hear one before spending the cash though. My other problem is convincing the wife I need it! :o
Thanks

HaHa-- yeah that's probably the hard part.
I'm sure there are some cheaper alternative pups on the market. Is the style of the SA-6 what you're going for?

It may be. I am still in the shopping around mode. I really don't care that it is visable as long as it is not in my way of playing like the Dean Markley woody. That Sa-6 looks like it would not cover up too much of the sound hole, when not going through an amp.

i currently have a generic single coil, something from a harmony or some other off brand guitar in my acoustic, at low volumes it sounds like an acoustic, but the more gain you add, the more it starts to sound like an electric. the feed back is horrible even clean, i would NOT recommend doing it to anyone who thought it might be a good idea, take it from me, i learned the hard way, now i have a permanantly modified alvarez acoustic, which WAS a good guitar and is now firewood /cry
