Quick Question. I own the Peavey 5150 and one day I figured i’d take out the stock tubes and throw in some nice Ruby power tubes and jj preamp tubes. The amp sounded absolutely incredible. I’m in a death metal band in case you want to know the sound I’m after.

Well since then I have upgraded a bit more and got the BBE Sonic Maximizer and the Vintage TS808 Tube Screamer with my Boss NS-2.

BBE is dimed on both knobs (I like it that way). My tube screamer: Overdrive is at 0, Tone is at 11 o’clock and Level is dimed at 10 or 5 O’clock. My BBE SM is ran through my effects loop and everything else is ran in the front of my amp between the amp and guitar.

So now my question is every practice (last about 5 to 6 hours, twice a week) I keep blowing my preamp tubes. when I replaced them all, I figured maybe it was a bad batch since I have seen that happen, so i replaced again and same thing, since then, I did it one more time after that and once again, it blew!

I have no idea why they keep blowing. I want to think it’s something internal, but I’m not sure.

Thanks!

It really does sound like an internal issue. It should not blow preamp tubes like that.
