Boosey & Hawkes have re-released the Hofner “Beatle” bass in tow models: the 500/1 Vintage ’63 and the 5000/. The 500/1 is a violin-shaped, semi-hollow body design with traditional Staple top pickups and the classic setup of two volume controls, two on/off switches and on rhythm/solo switch. The bass features a carved spruce top with laminated, flamed maple back and sides, and a 30-inch short-scale maple neck with a beechwood “stripe” and rosewood fingerboard. The bass comes standard with nickel-plated hardware and is available in right- or left- handed models. The 5000/1 is a deluxe version of the bass, featuring laminated, highly flamed maple back and sides, maple neck with ebony fingerboard, gold-plated hardware, fully bound neck and body, and matching pickguard. The 5000/1 is available in natural blond finish with brown pearloid pickguard and binding.
